Raleigh’s Public Pools
The City of Raleigh operates several public swimming pools, both indoors and outdoors. These include:
- Buffaloe Road Aquatic Center: Lap, waterslide, vortex
- Millbrook Pool: Lap, sprayground
- Optimist Pool: Lap, wading
- Pullen Aquatic Center: Lap, diving boards
- Biltmore Pool: Lap, wading
- Lake Johnson Pool: Lap, sprayground, wading
- Longview Pool: Lap
- Ridge Road Pool: Lap, wading
Wake Forest: Holding Park Aquatic Center
This beautiful new facility just opened Memorial Day weekend! It features a six-lane lap pool, two water slides with plunge pool, and a children’s pool with sprayground features.
Chapel Hill Community Center Indoor Pool
If you’re looking for a fun all-round outdoor experience, Chapel Hill Community Center Park is a great place to go. Not only does it have an outdoor pool, it also offers sports courts, a playground, picnic areas, a rose garden, and two trails, one paved and one natural.
YMCA at Knightdale Station
Located in the expansive Knightdale Station Park, the YMCA is surrounded by beautiful outdoor recreational facilities. It’s also got a huge pool complex with a lap pool, water slide, pool deck, and poolhouse. Plus, joining this pool means getting all the perks of a YMCA membership, like fitness classes and equipment.
Smithfield Recreation & Aquatics Center
Membership to the SRAC comes with a long list of benefits and amenities: indoor pool and splash park, racquetball, basketball, fitness center, indoor walking track, kids playroom, rentable meeting and crafts rooms, and more. There are also numerous programs to enjoy.
Raleigh: Oak Park Swim Club
Located in the Oak Park neighborhood, Oak Park Pool features a 4,500 square foot pool with high and low diving boards, as well as a designated “kid area”.
Raleigh: Lake Park Swim Club
Not only does LPK have a big lap pool with splash areas, it also offers competitive swimming, swim lessons, tennis, volleyball, social events, and more. It’s located just off the Shelley Lake greenway trail in the Lake Park neighborhood, so it’s not uncommon for members to walk, bike, or run to the pool.
Raleigh: North Raleigh Swim Club
North Raleigh Swim Club has more than a pool—it’s also got volleyball, cabanas (available for rental), grills, a swim team, and more. There are also numerous events (like pool parties and movie nights) throughout the year.
Cary: Triangle Aquatics Center
This large indoor competition pool features competitive and instructional swimming programs, fitness programs, pool party packages, and plenty of events. It even offers lifeguard certification classes.
